You just saved us a plumber/handy man call AGAIN and I fixed ANOTHER potty problem (technically 3: the Flowmaster valve repair and the leak tracking videos)! If I ever get to Ramona, I'm buying you a drink or a doughnut or giving you a hug.

Just followed your instructions and it worked perfectly to stop my leaking shower. I had to use PB Blaster on the dome cap. Sprayed it and just let it sit for about an hour. Went back and it popped loose. The rest was easy. Fixed it for a grand total of about $10.00. Thank you.

I had to use the pliers, because adjustable wrench kept slipping. Put a newer version on with a swivel head. Thanks for the video, good explanation.

What is the name of the tool used to pull the little rubber gaskets and springs? I would like to have one! This is an awesome video and exactly what I need to fix my drippy shower faucet.

@ramonasplumber What do you do if the dryer vent brush gets stuck? I was trying to push it through until it came out the garbage disposal end...it never reached that far and now I can't get the brush out of the airgap. Hoping you are still reading these after all these years. Help!

This is crap. Title should read, “How to swap a Moen insert”. He said how repair the valve. That’s what I’m looking for. I have one that hasn’t been used a dozen times but started to leak. I installed a new one but it was $60 and the old one still LOOKS brand new, but it’d be nice if someone showed how to fix the valve not just replace it.

any idea about this shower handle or knob i can use another brand thats better than delta ,, i had replace this knob twice bought it from lowes delta brand and the know broke very easy

Great lesson for the exact same shower valve I intalled myself about 25 years ago. Found an aftermarket Shower Valve kit with ball (no tools) at Home Depot for about $15. Thinking of order a new cobering cap that have (online), incase I have to destroy the old one getting it off. Thanks for lesson.

13 years later after posting and I still found this to be the best video on replacing a Moen 1222 cartridge. Very informative with step by step instructions. I did have to remove the escutcheon to access the cartridge pin, but other than that, your video gave me the confidence to tackle the replacement without hiring a plumber. Well done. BTW, call Moen to get a replacement cartridge at no charge (providing you can wait for shipping). No proof of purchase required.

definitely helpful. Also on install go straight in as he says--but let me emphasize--do not shimmy or twist even a millimeter--I shredded a cartridge that way.

Took me a lil under an hour, I had the puller, and took a guess on what cartridge to buy, I forgot to pull out the clip at first and crunched the cartridge trying to pull it out, but after that no more drips....Thanks.

I live in a city with extremely hard water. The screw holding the handle on is all limed up. I haven’t stripped the head, but it’s also not pristine at this point. I just soaked it with cleaning vinegar. Any other recommendations if that doesn’t work?

Ok question, I installed a brand new Moen valve on my shed, but I ran only cold water to the left side and disabled the other side, No water is coming out from the top, what happened??

I just went through Moen hell to change their valve from hell, you don't want to go there. Just look at the you tube videos.

@ramonasplumber. Excellent video! This 4 90s method is superior to other methods because it uses no o-rings. It will NOT leak. A suggestion below is to make the second short vertical pipe the LAST piece to glue in place, then twist the pipe a quarter turn (with channelocks if schedule 40). I think it's a good idea to dry fit everything, carefully glue each part, and make sure the horizontal bypass piece is long enough that you can spread the last 2 elbows far enough apart to squeeze that short vertical pipe in place. I'm going to use a fine point pencil to line up every piece perfectly.

Mine is really stuck ! I replaced the other one in the other bathroom and heating it with a hair dryer first helped loosen it up. Not sure what to do with this 2nd Valve. Suggestions?

Great video but I still call a plumber since the dome cap is seized on and I can't get it off with out breaking it.

This video saved me! Even with puller tool the valve just fought me. It literally came out in pieces. your instruction gave me the confidence to keep going. The number on the existing valve has been replaced with another number but a quick search of the internet confirmed the replacement number. Thanks for taking the time to do this. There is one question ...there was a cheaper Danco replacement for the Moen valve at Lowes but I just bought the Moen one in the hope it will last longer. do you know if there is a difference in quality between the two? Thanks in advance.

darn. now I find this. I just rebuilt mine an hour ago. It went fairly well. The only thing I broke was a little tab on the button.

Thank you. I know this and done it so many times but in a blank brain moment, I couldn’t get it off . So I looked at Wikihow and it said counterclockwise. Well, I beat the heck out of the aerator and couldn’t get it off🙄,watched your video I now know I’m not insane! Wiki is incorrect. Needed a new one anyway. So much for Wiki ! Thank you!
